MEET AMERICA’S
CANINE EDUCATOR

Thomas Davis, America’s Canine Educator, grew up with virtually no leashes and as a kid his family let their dogs run free. When it was time to go back home, they would call their dogs in…and they recalled…what he thought everyone’s dogs did. Tom began training dogs at an early age, always knowing he had the ability to control and understand what canines were telling us.  This is very apparent to anyone who took the time to meet with him.

How did the educating begin? Walking dogs as a kid for free, around the neighborhood and having better relationships with canines than people. From there, Tom began working with packs of misfit dogs – dogs everyone else had given up on. All he knew was that he had a knack for training dogs with problems such as social difficulties, aggression, general mischievousness and disobedience.

It really wasn’t until Tom started a dog walking and pet sitting business that he realized training and understanding dogs weren’t abilities that everyone possessed. In fact, very few people had his remarkable ability to empathize with dogs. Today, Tom feels like educating dogs and changing their negative behaviors is what he was put on this earth to do. People ask him constantly, “How do you do that?” He used to respond, “How do you not know how?!” Over time, he has come to realize his ability for what it is, a gift, and he loves what he does. Watching dogs with serious behavior cases tear homes, families, and lives apart (literally and figuratively), he knew he could help. “You make it look so easy,” is a common response from Tom’s clients.

He may have delved into the canine world backwards, starting his work with tough dogs who had serious problems that nobody knew what to do with (and even a pack of wolves!), to eventually working with dogs that had balance and a good state of mind, but just needed to learn obedience. A good friend of Tom’s, who is also a trainer, told him, “You’ve created the perfect storm of well-rounded skills that most dog trainers will never experience.”
